World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

In partnership with Jewish Family Services, Kerrisdale Oakridge Marpole Better at Home, the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver, Seniors First BC and the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, the World Elder Abuse Awaerness Day event brought the community together to raise awareness on the pressing issue of elder abuse.

We were privileged to witness a diverse range of insightful discussions, enlightening presentations, and thought-provoking conversations from our featured guest speakers:

BC Seniors Advocate Isobel Mackenzie emphasized the urgency of combating elder abuse and encouraged everyone to play an active role in safeguarding older adults' well-being.

Linda Yauk, Workshop & Outreach Coordinator for Seniors First BC, provided valuable insights into the causes and prevalence of this issue. Her thought-provoking presentation highlighted the importance of awareness and prevention strategies, creating a lasting impact on the audience.

MLA Michael Lee reaffirmed the government's commitment to addressing elder abuse.

Together, we explored ways to identify, prevent, and address elder abuse. Thank you to the resource tables in the Atrium who empowered the attendees with information and tools:

Thank you to NAVA catering for the refreshments, and Rhonda Dent Photography. And thank you to the planning committee for the seamless execution of this important event.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to every individual who attended the event. Your presence made a difference, and we are truly grateful for your willingness to engage, learn, and contribute to the cause. You have become a vital part of our ongoing fight against elder abuse, bringing us one step closer to a society that values and protects our elders, offering them the love, support, and care they deserve.
