The Stiller Family’s Journey To Canada: A South African Jewish Journey
Explore the elements of food that nourish our souls through foods and stories that reflect the diversity of the Jewish community of BC. The Supper Club will engage participants in the elements of food that nourish our souls and strengthen community in addition to delighting our taste buds.
- Date: Thursday, June 26, 2025
- Time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm at
- Location: The Kitchen (54 E 3rd Ave, Vancouver).
About our host, Marcus Stiller: Marcus moved to Canada with his wife and three-year-old child in 1996. In 2000, he opened a South African-themed restaurant to share a taste of home. He remained deeply connected to both South Africa and Judaism, becoming a board member at Jewish schools like King David and RJDS. With strong support from Jewish organizations, Marcus found that while he had moved countries, the sense of Jewish community remained the same.
Please note: all food served is certified BCK and Parve

In a recent news story, it was revealed that the primary concern for most seniors is, ‘Will I have enough money to live?’ Whether you receive a fixed amount each month from the government, private pensions, or other sources, many are finding it increasingly challenging to make ends meet. In this program, we will explore practical tips and suggestions to help alleviate these financial concerns.
About our facilitator: Sue Heuman Presenter, is a retired Surrey English and English Second Language teacher with six years of retirement under her belt. She has been a presenter for Seniors’ Health and Wellness for about three years. Sue enjoys engaging with seniors groups like yours, as each presentation offers her valuable learning experiences. Before embarking on her teaching career in 2002, she held various roles at CIBC for 30 years.
