JQT Mental Health Series: Dream Askew | Dream Apart
Dream Askew | Dream Apart are a pair of games by Avery Alder and Ben Rosenbaum, in which players collectively tell the story of Queer Strife Amid the Collapse (in Dream Askew), or Jewish Fantasy of the Shtetl (in Dream Apart). Each game is a beautiful, quick-to-learn, community-based Tabletop Roleplaying Game, perfect for both newbies to TTRPGs and veteran players alike.
Our players will determine which story they want to tell, in either one or two groups, and be guided by a facilitator through the process of creating characters, learning the rules, and telling a story that touches your very soul. The month of May is Jewish Heritage Month – as such, costumes are highly encouraged, and don’t be surprised if the stories we tell reflect that!
Character sheets, pencils, and index cards will be provided. Dream Askew | Dream Apart is built in the Belonging Outside Belonging system, also known as No Dice, No Masters, which means you won’t need dice for this event – however, feel free to bring them anyway if you just feel like showing off your shiny math rocks.
Registration to participate in this SCENT-FREE gameplay is required in advance. When registering for a spot, please keep in mind that JQT serves Jewish queer and trans people, and will be ordering food for you. There are 15 spots available for this game, so please register responsibly. If you are unable to make it, please give us advance warning so that we can give your spot to the next person on the waitlist and so we know numbers for our caterer. No game playing experience required.
