JACS Peer Support Worker Training & Practicum Program

JACS is looking for volunteers with lived experience of addiction to join our JACS Peer Support Worker Training & Practicum Program intensive, hands-on training opportunity designed to equip people with lived and living experience to provide skilled, compassionate and ethical peer support in addiction and recovery settings.

Based on the BCcampus Peer Connect curriculum and enhanced with specialized JACS training, the program combines foundational peer support education with practical skills in addiction and recovery, concurrent disorders, motivational interviewing, Jewish cultural competency, overdose response and naloxone, documentation, professional boundaries and conduct, and systems navigation.

Participants will put their learning into practice through supervised practicum experience, building the confidence, skills and professional experience needed to pursue peer support opportunities in community, health-care and social-service settings. Participants will receive a small honorarium at the completion of their training and another honorarium upon completing their practicum hours.

This is an interactive, skills-based program with a strong emphasis on participation, practice and connection. Space is limited.
