Workshops
Our employment workshops equip job seekers with the skills they need to navigate the Canadian job market. We cover the following topics:
Identifying Your Strengths
Participants will prepare and share a success/accomplishment story, and complete a series of self-assessment exercises. Personal Values, Skills/Interests, Attributes/Qualities and Development opportunities will be explored and each person will create a Summary Sheet to use in their effective and personalized job search.
Cover Letters Workshop
While a perfect cover letter won’t necessarily get you a job, a poorly written cover letter will certainly keep you from getting an interview. Before writing your cover letter it is important that you get some information in order. In this workshop you will learn a detailed outline of the structure of a cover letter. Important cover letter writing tips will be included as well.
Managing Your Canadian Work Search
We will outline how Canadian employers search for and choose successful candidates and how a Canadian job search may differ from other countries. Various job search methods will be explored. Using the ‘odds’ to best advantage and a project management approach to job search will be emphasized. A Professional Self-Introduction Statement (30 Second Personal Introduction), an essential element of networking, and an important life- long job search skill, will be created and rehearsed.
Winning Interview Skills Part 1 and 2
Includes interactive exercises that highlight the Do’s and Don’ts before, during and after the interview, and provides tips and practice on non-verbal communication and rapport building.
Job Search Re-boot
You will have the opportunity to review your strengths and to prepare and practice your 30 Second Networking Commercial. Also included are reminders on the best ways to currently look for work and to succeed in a job interview. Please come to connect and learn from one another!
Networking Skills Part 1 and 2
This workshop will provide many opportunities to practice your personal introduction, making phone calls to employers, and different methods of networking.
Informational Interviews Part 1 and 2
Learn why an information meeting/interview should be an essential part of your networking, career exploration, and job-searching strategy and how to set up and conduct these meetings.
