The JFS Food Security Committee will lead JFS in the planning and move of the JFS food program to our new and permanent location in Vancouver in the spring 2021. 

Together, the Committee offers a breadth and depth of experience in food industry, project management, community planning and food security.  Some individuals have served on the Jewish Food Security Task Force, a joint effort between JFS and the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, while other members are active on the JFS Board and several other Committees in the community.

Michelle currently serves on the board for the Jewish Museum and Archives, and the Hebrew Free Loan Association. Michelle is also a freelance writer and owner and proprietor of ess Baked Goods. She brings to the table training and experience as a chef, and long-time community service. 


Michelle Gerber

Michelle was a member of the VTT Board for over ten years, with expertise in strategic planning, marketing and development. She currently serves on the Jewish Federation’s Community Recovery Task Force, and is a volunteer coordinator for the JFS Food Hub in North Vancouver. Her first-hand experience with our community hub will prove vitally important on this Committee. 


Kallner, Co-Chair 

Simone has a background in residential property management. She serves on the JFS Board of Directors and the JFS Development Committee.  Simone has also been a dedicated volunteer supporting our food bank as well as other food-related programs including the Rosh Hashanah and the Hanukkah Hamper in-a-box programs.  As the Co-Chair of this Committee, Simone brings strong community engagement experience and a solid understanding of JFS’ critical role in food security as a Board member. 

Renée Katz

Renée co-chaired the Food Security Task Force and served on the Board with the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver.  Architectural & Interior Designer at J & R Katz Design and Architecture Inc, Renee is a critical asset to the Committee and has already been integral in preliminary layout and design work for the new food hub. 

Stan Shaw
, Co-Chair 

Stan is the founder and CEO of Corban Technology Solutions Inc.  He is an active member of our JFS Board of Directors and was the Co-Chair of the Food Security Task Force. Stan is also a long-time volunteer at our Jewish Food Bank. His tenure with JFS and extensive experience in project management, leading teams in the health, corporate and not-for-profit sector, will be invaluable in his role as Co-Chair.
