Working Together to Tackle Affordable Housing

JFS and Tikva Housing are partners in providing housing for Jewish community members who have difficulty affording to live in Vancouver

While Tikva Housing is responsible for long-term housing solutions in the community, JFS works with those who require immediate assistance in finding a place to live. JFS also provides emotional support and assistance to clients residing in buildings managed by Tikva Housing.

Below is a chart with the different roles and responsibilities of each organization.

Tikva Housing Society Jewish Family Services
  • Acquire and manage affordable housing for low and moderate income Jewish families on a long-term basis
  • Assess and approve eligible clients for the Esther Dayson rental subsidy program
  • Interview and place individuals and families in Dany Guincher House, the Diamond Residences, or the new Ben and Esther Dayson Residences
  • Refer Tikva Housing residents to JFS for emotional support and financial assistance
  • Find affordable housing for individuals, families and seniors in emergency situations
  • Provide emergency funding to clients up to a maximum of $500 to avoid eviction or to pay first or last month’s rent
  • Refer eligible clients who are not in immediate need of housing to be assessed for the Esther Dayson rental subsidy program
  • Refer eligible clients who are not in immediate need of housing to Tikva Housing and other housing agencies for placement in long term affordable housing
  • Provide emotional support and assistance to clients residing in supportive housing, including Tikva Housing managed buildings
