Volunteer Appreciation Award
Stan Taviss has had a long career as a lawyer during which time he worked with people of varied and diverse backgrounds. He volunteers as a mock interviewer for the JFS Employment Department, giving clients valuable practice and feedback in improving their interview skills. Stan has a knack for making people feel comfortable even when he is giving them corrective advice. Clients have found these sessions to be extremely helpful and illuminating, and credit their mock interviews with Stan as a factor in achieving their employment goals.
Community Partner Award
Tikva Housing Society works to provide safe, affordable housing to some of the most vulnerable members of the Jewish community. JFS and Tivka began a partnership by assisting Danny Guincher building residents and rent subsidy recipients. We expanded our collaboration through the Diamond residencies in Richmond and the new Ben & Esther Dayson Residencies in the River District. The relationship between Tikva and JFS has been instrumental in providing our clients with housing subsidies and subsidized housing.
Jewish Community Professional Award
JFS is pleased to present the Jewish Community Professional Award to Shelley Rivkin for her outstanding contribution of expertise and support to JFS and the community. Since joining Jewish Federation in 2007, she has worked collaboratively with a wide range of partner agencies and community volunteers to respond to and address community needs. Most recently, Shelley has provided significant assistance to the Jewish Food Security Task Force. She has always been a staunch supporter of JFS and the work we do in the Jewish and broader community. Shelley is respected and trusted by her colleagues, and her hard work and dedication is truly appreciated.
Congratulations to all the great volunteers, staff and community members who make the work we do possible.
